How to Control Notifications, the Bell and Emails

Aristotto tells you things in two places: the bell in the header and your email. For most notifications you choose Bell, Email or both in Settings, Notifications, and changes save instantly. A few account notices are always on.

This article covers the bell drawer, each notification row, team notifications, email preferences and what to check when a notification does not arrive.

What does the bell show?

The bell sits in the header, between your credits balance and your avatar. Press it to open the drawer.

TabWhat you find there
RewardsThe Daily Streak, one-time rewards and Invite Friends
HistoryEach run once it finishes or fails
NewsAnnouncements
InteractionsLikes, comments and new follows

At the bottom of the drawer, Notification settings takes you to the full list.

How do you choose what reaches the bell or your email?

  1. Open the account menu, press Manage Account, then Notifications. You can also press Notification settings at the bottom of the bell drawer.

  2. Find the row you want; it has a Bell choice and an Email choice.

  3. Set each one. Changes save instantly, so there is no save button to press.

Which notifications can you change?

Under Your creations:

  • Generation history covers completed and failed generations. It can reach the bell and your email.

  • Comments covers comments, replies and mentions, on the bell and by email.

  • Likes, Follows, Comment reactions and Team saves are bell notifications.

Under From Aristotto:

  • Your account: always on.

  • Creator Program: always on; covers submissions, rewards, payments and Partner.

  • Official news.

  • Marketing emails: sent by email.

Theater notifications appear for accounts invited to Theater, which is open by invite. Invited accounts also have Settings, Theater with its own notification options.

How do team notifications work?

Team notifications are sent to everyone on the team. Owners and admins edit them from the Notifications tab on the team page. Team comments and Team generation history arrive in the app and by email. Team likes, Team comment reactions and Team saves are on the same list.

How do you change or stop emails?

Each email we send includes a link to your email preferences. There you can turn these on or off:

  • Community or Challenges

  • Newsletter

  • Product updates

  • Promotions and offers

  • Product tips

You can also unsubscribe from all, or re-subscribe later. When you signed up, you already chose whether we email you tips and offers.

Example: How do you get an email when a run finishes and stop like alerts?

  1. Press the bell, then Notification settings at the bottom.

  2. Find Generation history and turn on Email.

  3. Find Likes and turn off Bell.

  4. Leave the page. Changes saved instantly.

  5. Start a run. When it finishes or fails, you get an email, and the run also shows in the bell's History tab.

What should you check when a notification does not arrive?

  • The row is off. Check the Bell or Email choice for that row in Settings, Notifications.

  • No emails at all. Open the preferences link in any earlier email. If you unsubscribed from all, re-subscribe.

  • Likes or follows by email. Likes, Follows and Comment reactions go to the bell only. Look in the Interactions tab.

  • No comments from strangers. Comments are on a generation's preview, for its owner and team members. Community has no public comments.

  • Reward not showing. Daily Streak rewards wait in the Rewards tab. Log in every day and claim each one there.

  • Team notices. Only owners and admins change team notifications. Ask one of them.

  • Theater notices. These appear for invited accounts only.
